Plan now for the Jr. High Camp-Out at George Wyth State Park on Thursday and Friday (August 13-14). This is open to all teens going into 7th grade in fall of 2009 through teens going into 10th grade in fall of 2009. The cost is $10 per student (covers camping fees and food). Tents will be provided by WRBC. If you need a sleeping bag the church can provide one for you, or you can use/bring your own. Here’s the plan and schedule:
1:00 PM – Canoe Trip to the Island/Sandbar
6:00 PM – Supper
10:30 AM – Arrive back at WRBC (Annex entrance)
WHAT TO BRING?
Wear clothes and shoes (open toe sandals and flip-flops are NOT recommended) on Thursday that can get muddy, dirty, and wet. Bring a pair of active clothes to wear for Thursday night. Bring your own PJ’s and a pair of clothes for Friday. On Friday your clothes will not get as dirty, but you will get wet!
Guys: Swimsuits must be “boxer style” and, in length, be closer to your knee, than your backside. Guys you will need to wear a shirt at all times. Sleeveless shirts are fine, please – no tank tops. In order to cover your undergarments, please be sure that all shorts and pants fit properly around the waist. Wear a belt, if necessary.
Ladies: Swimsuits should be a one-piece style. You will need to wear a colored T-shirt over your swimsuit, and for canoeing, you’ll probably want a pair of shorts to wear over your swimsuit. You will not want to do the hiking/carrying parts with only your swimsuit on. If you don’t own a one-piece swimsuit, you may wear your two-piece with a colored T-shirt and shorts. Remember, Thursday’s clothes will get dirty. Other clothes for Thursday night and Friday should be modest. Shorts need to be closer to your knee, than your backside. Shirts need to be loose-fitting with no mid-riffs and no low fronts or backs. Sleeveless shirts are fine, but no tank-tops please. Modesty would mean that your undergarments should not be visible in any way, while you are wearing your shirt or shorts. This would include rolling sleeves to reveal undergarments.
Guys and Ladies: Bring a sleeping bag and pillow. If you need to borrow a sleeping bag from the Youth Room, see Pastor Dave. Bring a flashlight and toiletries for overnight. Bug spray and sunscreen are a MUST!!! Bring you Bible, a pencil, and a notebook or your SLJ. Tents will be provided. Please indicate on the sign-up sheet whether you can swim or not. Please leave radios, CD player, iPODs, Mp3 players, and video game systems at home. Cell phones will be allowed, however you are highly encouraged to NOT take them on the Canoeing/Hiking trip. Bring your own waterbottle and two towels!!! Prepare for the weather: You might want to bring a jacket, umbrella, and a rain poncho.
Permission Slips will be available on Thursday AM or on Wednesday night at Youth TEAM. You may bring your own snacks. Main meals (Thursday lunch, supper, and Friday breakfast) will be provided. If you have any questions, contact Pastor Dave or Laurie.
