EXPLANATION: I had made plans to offer our Youth TEAM teens a ski retreat similar to last year’s trip. In the information packet, I explained that we needed a minimum of 20 teens in order to take the trip. To date (with other calls, e-mails, and promises) I only have 10 teens pre-registered for retreat. For this reason, I am going to make a change on this year’s event. Instead of the full retreat Feb. 20-22, we will be taking a “day-trip” to SnowStar in Andalusia, IL on Saturday, February 21st (leaving at 7:30 AM and returning at around 10:30 PM).
OPTIONS: Here are the packages teens may choose from-
1. Lift Ticket ($30), Ski or Snowboard Renta ($24), Supper, and T-Shirt = $60 (students to cover their own breakfast and lunch)
2. Lift Ticket ($30), (own equipment), Supper, and T-Shirt = $35 (students to cover their own breakfast and lunch)
3. Tubing Ticket (three hour block = $15), Supper, and T-Shirt = *$20 (students to cover their own breakfast and lunch)
***Additional tubing hours are $8 an hour. Any skier or snowboarder can turn their lift ticket into a tubing ticket after 5:00 PM for $8 (basically after 5:00 PM, tube the rest of the day).
***If a teen is going to tube and ski/snowboard… they will want to ski/snowboard first, then tube. Tubing tickets cannot be changed into Lift Tickets without paying full price ($30)
NOTE: Prices are a little more expensive than Afton Alps, because we were getting a group discount at Afton and $5.00 off per person for our day at Afton with our hotel stay. There is a chance that these prices would come down, if we had at least 20 in our group.
REGISTRATIONS: Those who have made their $20 deposit have two choices…
1. You may place your $20 toward the SnowStar trip on the 21st of February.
2. You may request a “full refund” and have no obligation to attend the 21st of February.
ALL TEENS will need to pick-up a new ski trip packet! Available on Wednesday, February 4th, and also on Youth Bulletin Board. If there is one positive from this turn of events, it is this. Now… anyone (7th-12th grade) and everyone can go! Teens may invite friends. We have room for 26 passengers in the white bus, 14 passengers in the Goshen short bus, and 11 passengers in the Gray Van. Flyers to invite friends will be available on Wednesday night as well. As you can see, we can take 51 teens and sponsors… so there is plenty of room. There is no minimum for this event. There is no deposit for pre-registrations for the 21st of February. Pastor Dave is asking for the pre-registration sheets and permission slips to be turned in on Wednesday, February 18th, so we can plan transportation appropriately.
