OPEN GYM- This Sunday Night

7th-12th grade teens are invited to stay after the evening service on Sunday, October 31st for a time of fellowship and games. Bring a change of clothes for basketball, dodgeball, and volleyball & bring $2 for pizza (pop is available in pop machines for $1.25). We’ll plan on opening the gym after the evening service. Be sure to come at 6:00 pm, to encourage and hear Joel Dunlap. He’ll be preaching a message on Romans 1, marking the anniversary of the beginning of the Reformation. Open gym will go from 7:00 to 9:30 pm. Parents may pick-up their kids earlier. Hope to see you there. We’ll try to get a count at Youth Sessions on Sunday morning.

“Yes… #23 is your Youth Pastor.  3rd grade basketball… 5 foot 2 inches… Aunt Sara’s Nike running shoes.”

#11 – Trevor Thompson (Dad was our coach, on left),  #10 – Stephen Schmits,  #12 – Todd Ekel (Dad was our assistant coach, on right), #22 – Skip Montgomery (fast guy and awesome kick-ball player), and #30 & #21 – I can’t remember.  We played for Flo’s Restaurant, but we never got to eat there :-(

BARN PARTY ’10 – “Out-A-Towner”

The WRBC Youth TEAM Fall Barn Party is one of the most anticipated calendar events during the school year. All 7th-12th grade teens are invited to attend. Youth TEAM teens are encourage to invite their friends. This year we’re trying something totally new and different. This year we’ve been invited to participate with Harvest Baptist Church in Williamsburg, Iowa for our Barn Party. Mr. Tim Jones (song leader at Sr. High Camp at IRBC) works with the youth in Williamsburg. There will be great food, great games, hayrides, bonfire, and an awesome speaker: Dr. David Warren (Cedarville University). WRBC Youth TEAM plans to leave at 2:30 PM and return around midnight. (NOTE: Parents, there is a chance we’ll be home sooner, and we will have your teen call, if that is the case.) Wear clothes for outdoor games and dress for the weather (sweatshirts, coats, hat, gloves, umbrella, and flashlights… part of the time we’ll be in the woods).

Because we’ve had so many sign-up already, we must limit the number of attendees to 76 sponsors/teens. Teens interested in attending MUST sign-up with Pastor Dave no later than Wednesday night, October 20th. We’ve already rented three vans to add to our church vehicles. The cost is $2 per teen (to help off-set rental fees). Williamsburg youth group has requested that we bring some food as well. Guys, on Saturday, please bring a package of hot dogs and a bag of chips. Girls, on Saturday, please bring a plate of cookies or cookie-bars. Friends you’ve invited and sign-up do not need to worry about the food items. If you have any questions, please contact Pastor Dave at the church. NOTE: No iPODs, personal music devices, or personal video game systems on this trip. Cellphones will be allowed, however it is highly recommended that they remain on the vans and not be taken into the woods. Also, cellphones should be used to communicate with Mom & Dad, and during the trip to and from Williamsburg, not to be used for excessive texting or talking with friends not attending Barn Party. There is no medical release for this trip. Hope to see you there!!!

IMPORTANT UPDATE!!! – Sunday, September 26th

With the rain on September 19th, we have postponed the Youth TEAM “Time-Out” at the Kestel’s Home to Sunday evening, September 26th. Transportation will be provided to and from WRBC. The Kestel’s have prepared a great time of fellowship for our teens with walking tacos, chippers, campfire, choruses with guitars… FUN, FUN, FUN!!! Next week’s “Time-Out” will go from 7:00 pm (after the evening service) to 9:30 pm. Parents who wish to pick their teens up earlier may do so (135 Crestview Avenue). The Kestel’s only live about 6 blocks from WRBC. All 7th through 12th graders are invited. We hope this will work out better “weather-wise” and we don’t have a business meeting scheduled for next Sunday night (which will give teens more time for fellowship). Hope you can make it! “Chippers….. Mmmmmm!!!”  WRBC Teens will also be making “Get Well” cards for Pastor Moore, as he will be having hip surgery on Monday.

WRBC Youth TEAM Annual “Fall Kick-Off”

The WRBC Youth TEAM is hosting a special Wednesday night on September 15th. “Are you ready for some football?” Bring your outdoor athletic clothes, because on Wednesday night we’re playing a special game of “Odds” vs. “Evens” in Flag-Football. This will also be a special night to welcome all the new 7th graders to Youth TEAM. Bring your own water-bottle, bug-spray, Bible, etc. The order of events will be simple: football, Bible study, and a special treat. 7th-12th grade Guys and Girls are all invited to come and participate.
