Hey… Youth TEAM teens and WRBC College students, we’re opening our home on Friday, January 1st for our 2nd Annual Football Party. This is a “come and go – as you please” event. Tebbenkamp address is: 621 Lorraine Avenue, Waterloo, Iowa.
Party begins at Noon with the Penn State vs. LSU… followed by Ohio State vs. Oregon at 3:30 PM… followed by Florida vs. Cincinnati at 7:30 PM.
Bring some snacks to share and a 2-liter of pop. Should be a great time of fellowship and fun. Call or e-mail if you have any questions. There is no transporation from WRBC… parents need to drop-off and pick-up teens from Tebbenkamp’s home.
A special “thank you” is in order to all Youth TEAM teens who sang on Sunday morning. I know we had our mistakes and mix-ups, however many people commented to me that they appreciated the message of our song, “It’s About The Cross.” Thanks!
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 23rd -There is no formal Youth TEAM at WRBC, instead we will have a youth fellowship at the Klein’s home from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. The Klein’s address is: 1 Bruce Lane, La Porte City, Iowa 50651 (319.342.3166). This is a “come and go as you please” event. With parental permission, teens may drive themselves. Parents may drop-off their teens. Or… teens can ride the WRBC vans. Vans will leave WRBC at 5:45 pm and return to WRBC at 9:15 pm. If you ride the van, you’ll need to stay the whole time. Parents who drop-off their teens should pick them up by 9:00 pm. What to bring? Bring a holiday treat to share with others, a 2-liter of pop, your favorite boardgame (optional), and a White Elephant Gift (A. WEG is something old from home to give away… kind of a “tasteful prank” gift. Do NOT go out and buy anything. If you don’t know what to bring, ask your parents for some ideas.) Gift exchange will be at 7:15 pm.
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 27th – Special “surprise” during the 10:40 am Youth TEAM Session. WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 30th - There is no formal Youth TEAM at WRBC, instead we will have a youth fellowship at the Speed’s home from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. The Speed’s address is: 4641 Winghaven Drive, Waterloo, Iowa 50701 (319.232.2431). Bring a snack food to share with others, a 2-liter of pop, your favorite boardgame (optional).
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 6th – Registration and payment is due for the IRBC Winter Meltdown. See the website for details (irbc.org). We are attending Meltdown #2 on February 12-14. The cost is $50 per person. This retreat is open to all 9th-12th graders. Because space is limited, we are registering early and securing our payments on Jan. 6th. If you attempt to register after 1/6, there is no promise that IRBC will have room for you. This is taking the place of the Ski Retreat, and will offer us the same amount of fun and spiritual challenge at half the price. If you or your parents have any questions, contact Pastor Dave.
FRIDAY & SATURDAY, JANUARY 8th-9th – This is our guy’s overnighter at the church and our girl’s late-nighter at one of our youth leader’s homes. I’ve asked David Bergstrom, Eric Dunlap, and Justin Cowley to help me with the guy’s overnighter. Laurie’s planning the girl’s late-nighter. Activities begin at 10:30 pm and conclude at 6:30 am the next morning. The cost is $5 per person (covers pizza). Each teen needs to bring a snack food to share and a 2-liter of pop. All video games and movies will be approved by Pastor Dave.
NOTE: Due to a conflict with the church calendar, we are postponing our Clue Mystery Theater until 2011. This is not an all bad thing… it actually will help us pour more into our “Hoop-It-Up” Rally on Friday, March 26th.
